Toyota continues refining the GR Corolla and is testing a new camouflaged prototype that could indicate an even sportier version, possibly the GRMN.

Visual changes include hood and fender air intakes, as well as a larger rear wing than the one on the Circuit Edition. The model also features 18-inch forged BBS wheels with wider and grippier Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, similar to those on the Morizo version, suggesting a focus on extreme performance.

Under the hood, the 1.6-liter turbo three-cylinder engine has been tweaked to deliver more torque, although Toyota has not yet released exact figures or mentioned an increase in power beyond the standard 300 hp.

Interior details remain unknown, such as whether or not it has a rear seat — a feature that would distinguish the model if it follows the two-seat concept of the Morizo Edition. Another hint at exclusivity is the absence of a rear wiper, a trait of more radical versions.

The prototype will be shown to the public at the Formula Drift event in Long Beach, California, USA, on April 12 and 13. Toyota plans to continue testing the model before handing it over to Akio Toyoda, chairman of the board.

The price is expected to exceed the Circuit Edition’s $46,275 and may approach the Morizo Edition’s $51,420.
